Greetings fellow alumnus of Sacred Heart School!
In an effort to maintain better communication with Sacred Heart Alumni, the Alumni Association is embarking on an email membership campaign. You may already be a member and we thank you for that. However, you may be a person who was not aware that there is an alumni association, because it was a little late in its start! Alumni organized as an association in 1996, 21 years after the high school closed. However over the years we have had some dedicated members and as the current board, we would like to increase our communication and add or renew your membership!
We are an association of individuals who have appreciated our parochial high school education and enjoy our common history at Sacred Heart. As a membership group, we encourage communication from our members and we put together an annual newsletter to share our stories, present or past.
We have an alumni website too! There you can find yearbooks from 1954 through 1975. There are also individual “scrapbook” pages. You are invited and encouraged to submit photos. The link for the website is currently http://ghsmi.com/shsmi/home.html
Our membership is inexpensive, just $5 annually! Membership income has been used for printing and mailing of the newsletter, although some of our “green” members prefer their newsletter to be sent by email attachment. This has left us with some funds which we want to direct for a good purpose.
That purpose is to show our support parochial high school education in a way SHAA has not until now. We plan to create a modest scholarship opportunity for children from active parish families who will be attending a parochial high school. We hope to assign our first scholarship(s) for the 2014/15 school year. Again the scholarships will be supported via your $5 membership. For this reason we would like to increase our memberships, and appeal to you to join us!
